Oeko-Tex Certified Crib Sheets, Cloud Island by Target, $10
If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I pinned several new crib sheets to my board this week. I love crib sheets because they’re an inexpensive way to make a statement in the nursery. Target has launched their new Cloud Island collection for babies, and the items I am most excited about are the Oeko-Tex certified crib sheets! They cost ten dollars and come in a variety of patterns and solids.
I think this is a big deal! These sheets meets the highest Oeko-Tex standards, which means that the fabric has been tested to be free of many harmful substances. Textiles intended for use by babies and toddlers are put through the most rigorous testing under the Oeko-Tex certification system. As the product description on Target’s website reads, “This product is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning it is free from harmful levels of chemical substances.” It’s great that a large retailer like Target is creating products that meet these high standards for quality.
More About Oeko-Tex
I should be clear that while the Cloud Island crib sheets have earned this valuable certification, they are not manufactured from organic cotton. An Oeko-Tex certificaiton is not the same as a GOTS certification, though some products are both GOTS certified and Oeko-Tex ceritified. The difference between certifications and their criteria can quickly become confusing and technical. I’ve found some helpful resources that explain some key differences. As Vanessa Layton of Hello Charlie, an Australian blog that focuses on eco baby products writes, “Organic certification and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certifications are different, but useful ways for consumers to understand more about how the products they buy are produced.” Hello Charlie’s helpful post explains more about various certifications you may find when you’re planning a non-toxic nursery.

Non-Toxic Nursery on a Budget
If you’re looking for cribs sheets on a budget, the Cloud Island collection is a great option. There are definitely some affordable GOTS certified organic cotton crib sheets out there (a Burt’s Bees two pack runs between $24-$30, and I’ve found good deals on organic cotton sheets in the clearance section of Pottery Barn Kids) but ten dollars is an unbeatable price.
The Cloud Island collection offers over seventy different options. There are several white and gray styles that would work perfectly in a neutral nursery. Some of the patterns feature current nursery trends, such as cute woodland creatures. You’ll also find classic patterns such as dots, stripes, hearts, and stars. There’s really something for every style. Many of the patterns are also featured on Cloud Island changing pad covers.
(P.S. The changing pad covers are also Oek0-Tex certified, in case you’re curious!)
Final Thoughts on Cloud Island’s Oeko-Tex Certified Crib Sheets
I’m excited to see how the Cloud Island line will expand. While I’m definitely most interested in the affordable Oeko-Tek certified crib sheets, I’m also really impressed by the lighting range. Check out the cute night lights! I’m sure many fun things are on the horizon.
When you’re researching baby items, do you look for third-party certifications? Research has definitely led me down a rabbit hole at times! I love that the DockATot is Oeko-Tex certified, and these affordable jammies carry the GOTS certification.

You should also check out any ALDI store near you. Most if not all the product is Oeko-Tex certified from rugs, pillows, comfortors, clothing and accessories. All the footwear too, just under a different certification Eco-Secure.
