The Best Baby Toys for Your Child’s First Year (and Beyond)
Whether you’re simply playing peekaboo with a blanket or rolling a colorful ball back and forth, it can be magical to introduce new toys and games to your baby. Many of the best toys are simple. You may remember them from your own childhood. But there are certainly tons of options available today and it can be difficult to wade through them all to find quality toys your growing child will actually enjoy. I found a company called Lovevery one day when I was researching baby toys (as I do). I was immediately impressed by what they were offering and bought my first play kit.
I’ve written about baby toys before and found a lot that I can happily recommend. Some of my past finds and suggestions overlap with what you’ll receive in your Lovevery kit. But learning Lovevery first would have saved me all the time I spent tracking down the best toys for my babies. (To be fair, the play kits didn’t exist when my first baby was born!) I’d love to help you save that time too.
What Are Lovevery Play Kits?
Lovevery play kits are affordable curated boxes that come packed with high-quality toys selected by child development experts. Each kit includes items that will delight your baby while supporting their growth. Each item is chosen based on research, so you can stop googling “best toys for six-month-old” or “activities for nine-month-old” because your play kit has you covered. You’ll have plenty of ideas for playtime. You won’t be wasting money buying toys that aren’t well-made or developmentally appropriate. If you are someone who cares about aesthetics, these beautiful toys won’t disappoint.
Example Kit Contents:
Each kit includes several play things (toys, books, etc.) and a play guide to give parents suggestions for how to use each item, which I found really helpful.
For example, The Senser Kit, designed for babies 5-6 months old, contains a wooden magic tissue box with colorful fabric squares to pull out, a Montessori ball, a sturdy board book, rattle socks, a tummy time wobbler, a metal spoon, fabric bib, and a play guide for parents.
Lovevery Subscription Review: Why Should I Get These Play Kits for My Baby?
You Want Toys That Will Help Your Baby Grow
You want to learn about your baby’s development in a fun and easy way. It’s pretty amazing to read the play guide included in each kit and see how each toy can help your child think, problem solve, and learn. Since we’ve had several of these toys in our home for months, I’ve been able to watch as my child finds new ways to play with them. You might notice when you first receive a kit that some of the toys are beyond their level at first. Over the course of just a few weeks, they know just what to do with the toy that was once challenging. You’ll love watching your baby engage with these toys. Many of the toys that my child received months ago are still relevant to her today. While she may not still be wearing the rattle socks or gazing at black and white graphic cards, she’s definitely still using her board books, balls, and wooden toys from Lovevery.
You Don’t Have Time For All The Research You’d Like To Do
You could spend a lot of time looking up why babies benefit from certain toys at a certain age. You might even get a great recommendation from a friend but not know how to help your child engage with the toy. Lovevery takes out the guesswork. You get great toys designed to benefit your baby and clear instructions about how to maximize those benefits. Reading the play guide takes just a few minutes. In the past, I’ve spent hours going down rabbit holes trying to find the best toys. This
You Want to Simplify Gift Giving
Picking out a birthday present and hoping you want to know what the best baby toys are for a one-year-old? The Play Kits provide a simple answer that that question and a perfect solution. When my baby was turning one, I bought the 11-12 month play kit and wrapped up each item individually for her birthday. She was genuinely interested in every single item. This was so satisfying to me as a parent. Sometimes gift-giving feels so hit-or-miss and this time I had eliminated the guesswork. $80 well spent.
You Want Safe Toys For Your Baby
The quality and safety standards are pretty amazing. No strange chemicals to worry about. The website assures us that all Lovevery products are made without BPA, phthalates, heavy metals, formaldehyde, or flame retardants. Interestingly, these toys are manufactured at the Hape factory. Hape is another high-quality children’s brand that you may be familiar with.
You Want To Invest in High-Quality Items
It’s frustrating to buy cheap toys with flashing lights that break easily, make lots of noise, and get cast aside quickly. These toys are made from nice materials like wood and fabric. In reviews, many parents comment on the high quality. None of our Lovevery toys have broken or come apart. Some of the board books have some shelf wear (we love our books hard) but everything else looks great even after months of near daily use. Best toy investment ever.

Are the Baby Play Kits Different from the Toddler Play Kits?
Baby Kits: Must Have Toys for Baby’s First Year and Beyond
The baby kits are perfect for your baby’s first year, though many of the toys will have staying power that will last into the toddler years. The first baby kit corresponds to baby’s first twelve weeks and the subsequent kits are each designed for eight week periods. When you subscribe, the baby kits are shipped every other month.
Example Toys included in various baby play kits:
Balls, books, cards, wooden puzzles, stacking and sorting toys, other Montessori inspired materials.
Toddler Kits: Toddler Must Have Toys
The toddler kits are designed for children up to the age of 4, and there are twelve total toddler kits. The toddler kits span three months and are shipped on a quarterly basis. There are more toys in the toddler kits because they cover a longer time period, but overall the monthy cost is the same.
Example Toys included in various toddler play kits:
Board books, puzzles, classic Montessori toys, containers, games, and more.
The Play kits are designed for your child’s first three years– and I think year four is likely in the works. Follow Lovevery’s founder, @jessicarolph on Instagram to see more behind-the-scenes for new products that are in development.
Are Lovevery Play Kits Worth It?
Baby Play Kits start at $36/month, which is $80 for a 2 month play kit.
It’s an amazing deal for quality toys that will last. But it’s also an incredible deal for the amount of time it can save you. When you have a play kit subscription you’re no longer going down rabbit holes looking up which toys you should get your child every few weeks. You can take it off your to do list. When it’s time to give your child birthday or holiday gifts, you’re already covered and you know the items you receive will be perfectly matched to their developmental stage. Lovevery has made Christmas very easy for me.
