My review of the Bebe Au Lait Premium Cotton shopping cart cover, a multi-use product which can also fits standard restaurant high chairs. (Psst! It’s the perfect baby shower gift for germaphobe parents!)

In the first year of our daughter’s life, eating out felt like an act of bravery. When she was old enough to enjoy a meal with us in a standard-issue restaurant high chair, she immediately started teething on every grimy surface. So I did some research and bought this cart & chair cover from Bebeaulait. Sometimes wiping everything down and spraying your child’s hands with disinfectant doesn’t feel like quite enough.
This cart cover fits highchairs and shopping carts. I find it particularly useful when my child is teething, and thus mouthing every surface in sight. It’s easy to install: I can fit the cover over a shopping cart seat or a highchair at restaurants while holding my baby at the same time. There are two wide leg holes. In some seats, both of baby’s legs will go through one hole. I believe one cover can fit two children in a wide warehouse cart! Reminder: don’t use this product until your baby can sit up by herself. Basically get this if you’re grossed out by germs on shopping carts and loaner high chairs.
When my cover gets food all over it, I throw it in the washer. I do let this item hang dry because of the plastic buckles. It folds nicely into a built-in storage pocket, which I keep in the back of my car. (You never know when you might decide it’s the perfect day to stop for a burger in that cute place that overlooks the ocean!)
This cart cover definitely screams “I have a baby!” and “I’m a maximalist!” and probably also says “I am afraid of all the gross germs out there!” but I truly don’t care. My husband endorses it as well. We have the balloon print.
At $45, it isn’t essential and it isn’t cheap, but I’d definitely buy one again.
